NIghttime 5 K run

Barry and I recently ran a 5k night run. This is the first night race we've ever done together and I must say it was fun. People showed up wearing christmas lights and crazy outfits! The real reason I signed us up was we got a head lamp instead of a T-shirt! (Anything for something FREE!) Since we had a babysitter and the night was still young, we ended up (sweaty and all) at Cheerleaders Pub and Grill to eat and watch the BSU game. My kind of date night!!!

  • This Thanksgiving was the first time all the Jardine siblings, spouses, and children were together in over 15 years! The only cousins missing were Brian's boys, they had Thanksgiving with their mom, Patsy. In all, we had 12 adults and 12 kids! It was so much fun. Some of the highlights were: Taking family pictures with all the adults and watching Aunt Val in motion. She is so talented. Eating yummy food for turkey day. Watching BSU loose to Reno while eating super hot wings with Mel, Aric and Val. Family pictures of just our family-that was a work out! Going to dinner with Val and Chris and Outback Steakhouse. Sue, our new sister-in-law, had a birthday that we were able to celebrate together. Thinking that Toys R Us at 10 pm the night before Black Friday was a good idea, then deciding it was not! Eating at Denny's with Mel and Bruce at 2 am waiting for Target to open at 4 am. Standing in the rain in front of Target at 3 am with Bruce trying his best to stop the shivers Mel and I had. Black Friday deals in all the great stores! Pulling an all nighter, coming home at 7 am Black Friday morning, having started the night before at 9:30pm. It was freakin FANTASTIC!!!!!!! It will be tough to beat!

NO school day!

Starting Training

I've noticed lately that loosing those few pounds isn't so easy anymore. I"ve tired lots of different things but haven't found that secret diet! So, after a long internal struggle of not being happy with what my mind sees and what I actually see in the mirror, I've decided to take things into my own hands. Drumroll......................................................I'm doing a Triathlon next summer! I'm doing it for several reasons. One for the reason I just stated, but mostly for my kids. It's them I think of when my alarm wakes me from sleep wonder at 4:45 am. It's them I think of when the thought of crawling out of my nice warm bed snuggled next to my husband who is sleeping like a baby gives me second thoughts. It's them I think of when it's still dark outside AFTER the workout. It's all for them. Why? I want to teach them that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. That setting a goal isn't instant gratification. You have to work really hard and for a long time to achieve some things in life. I want them to appreciate their bodies and take care of them by following my example.

I've already started my journey.

A New Challenge In My Life

Raising five beautiful, healthy, strong-willed, entertaining children, working part time as a dental hygienist, PTA Vice President, ward Provident Living assistant while working on my goal of doing a triathlon next summer. What more could I add to this? I'm typing on a new computer (that I love), because I will need one that can keep up with my newly appointed task.

Marketing for Southern Springs Dental

I have no idea how to do any of this, nor where to start. But where there's a will, there's a way. I'm inspired by seeing success from close relatives who were daring enough to branch out and go for it. One of my biggest examples is my cousin, Melissa. Starting from a disgust of how expensive photographers are, she became one herself. Now she has an amazing business and her work is admired by many. I know dentistry isn't the same as photography, but why not use the internet for tools to build our practice too? Barry and I had a long talk a week ago about the need to expand his patient base and how do we do that? Hiring outside help can become pricey, mailers are incredibly expensive, and we've had bad experiences with the so called "office consultants". Nothing like spending a lot of money on someone who guarantees results, then falls very short. So the decision was made to do it ourselves. I have a prayer in my heart that the Lord will grant me patience, the ability to prioritize, and an identical "mini me" to fill in where I'm needed!

So, why am I writing this? This is where I'm starting. Trying out my blogging skills in a safe environment. I'm hoping this time next year, I will be writing how this was one of the best decisions we made!
